After several years of fan-fueled speculation, it has been revealed that Velma Dinkle in the classic 2D cartoon series Scooby-Doo is romantically interested in other women, despite the contradicting depiction of the classic character in the past. Fans of Scooby-Doo found out when the showrunners released a clip from the newly released animated film called Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! The nerdy fictional character could be seen flirting with a costume designer named Coco Diablo. The news was met with celebratory responses from the LGBTQ+ community and opposed by several fans of the original who were quick to point out that Velma had a crush on Shaggy in the original cartoon and live-action film called Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
