Today, Bad Bunny is arguably the biggest artist in the world. In addition to achieving chart-topping success in the Spanish-speaking market and the English-speaking market in the United States, the Puerto Rican rapper/singer has also become quite known for his activism and philanthropy, especially when it comes to giving back to his community. In recent weeks, the 2022 MTV Artist of the Year award-winner has campaigned for more awareness about the blackouts and devastation left behind in the wake of Hurricane Ian in his home country. Back in 2021, Logan Paul moved into a $13 million mansion in Puerto Rico with his younger brother Jake Paul (reportedly for business and tax purposes). He has since taken a strong interest in the Island's political infrastructure. The child actor-turned-professional wrestler recently sent shockwaves throughout the community when he accused Bad Bunny of committing tax fraud against his government. During an appearance on The Phillip DeFranco Show, Logan dropped a scathing hot take about his belief that Bad Bunny has been exploiting Puerto Rico in a tax scheme. This a notion that several of Bad Bunny's supporters and native Puerto Ricans have since pushed back on, citing Logan Paul's decision to relocate to their island in order to avoid taxation in the United States.
"Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican, living in Puerto Rico who is privately taking advantage of the same take program that he is publically condemning," Logan Paul said. "I know this, and I see things like this, and it hurts. There are local Puerto Ricans who know about this. So I see this music video that has stuck me in the middle of it, surrounded by context that makes me look like a [culture] vulture in Puerto Rico. And...again, while I love Bad Bunny, I cannot personally support the hypocritical nature of his exploration."
While the full extent of the relationship between Logan Paul and Bad Bunny is scarce, this interview is likely a response to a music video that Bad Bunny released in September called "El Apagón,” which touched on gentrification on the island and just so happens to include a clip from a Logan Paul interview where he famously says, "I'm moving to Puerto Rico!"
Logan Paul is currently signed to the WWE as a wrestler; Bad Bunny previously had a stint in the WWE as the 24/7 Champion. Hence, many fans have already begun to speculate that the two men will cross paths in the squared circle someday, despite the seriousness of the topic at hand.
