In this clip, Isaiah Washington reacted to the theory that ‘Friends’ is a rip-off of ‘Living Single’ and how those from ‘Living Single’ didn’t have the same “wealth building” opportunities as their counterparts on ‘Friends.’ He also spoke about the issue around his hair during the filming of ‘Love Jones’ and how that was the moment he became difficult to work with in Hollywood.
Isaiah Washington then spoke about doing the 1998 film ‘Bullworth,’ and Vlad pointed out that it’s been on a list of the most racist movies of all time. Isaiah explained that he’d never heard that, and he added that the movie is still relevant. Isaiah explained that people didn’t understand the satire of the movie, and he added that the intent behind the movie isn’t racist. Isaiah discussed having an issue with the movie’s writer wanting Warren Beatty’s character to call him the n-word. He explained that Warren became a mentor to him, and he went on to speak about filming the scene with Beatty and the crew thinking Isaiah had a real gun.
Isaiah also revealed that he proved a point with Beatty and the crew during the scene, and he joked that Halle Berry and Don Cheadle thought Isaiah ended his career. Isaiah spoke about the conversation he had with Warren, who told him that he knew Isaiah wouldn’t go for the scene. He added that they were laughing and cutting up after the fact, which Isaiah said freaked out the crew that thought there was a serious incident.
