Part 1: DDG on Touring with Kevin Gates, Dropping His Biggest Song After 1st VladTV Interview

In this clip, Shirley Ju asked DDG about “Run It Up,” which he said was his first radio hit after signing to Epic in 2018. DDG explained that he already knew Nahmir, but he hadn’t met G Herbo. From there, DDG addressed comments he made about other YouTubers like Ricegum and Jake Paul not making serious music, and he explained that he does music as “a real passion.” DDG added that he happened to blow up on YouTube despite being a serious artist, which he revealed was something he made his mind up about when he was in high school.
He then spoke about his first song, “Dope,” which he said was “a**,” and DDG then addressed being the valedictorian of his class, which he said was one of his biggest accomplishments. DDG added that he had a full-ride scholarship to Oakland University, which didn’t work out because he couldn’t get above a 20 on his ACT. DDG explained that he was going to Central Michigan University, which is when he blew up on YouTube, but he added that he dropped out when he was making money on social media. When asked about what his major was in college, DDG revealed that he was going for broadcasting and acting, and he added that he didn’t want to go to be an attorney. He also spoke about the video that led to him blowing up on YouTube, which was a reaction video of rapper Keith Ape that got 2 million views.
