Van Lathan weighed in on Kanye West's recent controversial comments that many have deemed to be anti-Semitic and incendiary.
Around the 16:22 mark in the "Higher Learning" podcast, Van and his co-host, Rachel Lindsay, discussed Kanye's comments about the Jewish community, and Van explained that he wasn't surprised because he has heard Kanye say something similar. Van explained that during Kanye's infamous 2018 interview at TMZ, Kanye said something that offended a Jewish TMZ employee.
Van explained, "He said something like 'I love Hitler,' 'I love Nazis,' something to that effect when he was there and they took it out of the interview because of whatever reason, it wasn’t my decision." This is the same interview where Kanye stated that slavery "sounds like a choice."
