Update 10/12/2022 2:38pm:

In the wake of Ben Gordon's arrest for striking his 10-year-old son in the face, the former shooting guard for the Chicago Bulls faces nine charges, including assault in 3rd degree, resisting arrest, criminal contempt in 2nd degree, endangering the welfare of a child and attempted assault in 3rd degree. Now, it's being speculated by Gordon's ex-girlfriend, Ashley Banks, that the entire incident was embellished by a "Karen" who witnessed Gordon disciplining his son before reporting him to authorities. Banks has also indicated that Gordon's arrest and the trauma that his son now faces should fall at the feet of the while blower instead.

“The problem is the child was traumatized...The child saw his father being arrested, taken away,” Banks said. “He was waiting in custody until his aunt picked him up. So that is the worst part of it, you know, and so we want to really protect him...“We were just disappointed because you keep seeing this pattern with black people...And it’s sad, but like a child is traumatized from it. How do you calm a 10-year-old? He’s probably going to be scared of the police. Because he’s little.”

According to reports, Gordon hit his son with a closed fist at the LaGuardia Airport in New York while they were waiting to board a flight to Chicago. The 39-year-old has well-documented struggles with mental health, which may have contributed to the incident.
