According to reports, a Florida man was arrested this week after allegedly returning a rental car with his granddaughter still in the backseat.

David Towner, 62, had been babysitting his one-year-old granddaughter for the day. He dropped off the car at the Daytona Beach International Airport and was picked up by his daughter. Authorities say the infant was left in the backseat for at least an hour before a worker found the child.

En route back to Towner's home, his daughter asked about the baby and he told her the child was at his home with his roommate. However, upon arriving at Towner's home his daughter discovered the child wasn't there and learned he had left the baby inside the returned rental vehicle.

Around the same time, employees from the Hertz rental car facility got law enforcement involved. The child was later returned to the mother in addition to the Department of Children and Families being notified about the incident. As for Towner, the 62-year-old was charged with one count of child neglect, and was in the Volusia County Branch Jail on Tuesday on $2,500 bail.
