MC Serch Selling His Portion of Nas' Catalog, Including 'Illmatic'

According to reports, MC Serch is selling off the portion of Nas’ that he owns. The 3rd Bass member sold 100 percent of his holdings in Nas’ catalog, including ‘Illmatic’ and ‘It Was Written,’ which he executive produced. 

While speaking on the move, Serch said, “I have decided to sell all of the rights, including the global rights. I started conversations with several companies a few months ago. For 27 years, it has provided my family through good times and bad. Now it’s time for a new chapter.” 

While speaking about the impact of ‘Illmatic’ and ‘It Was Written,’ Serch estimated both of those albums are streamed at 250 million a year. MC Serch’s company Serchlite Publishing and 4MC Multimedia have reportedly held the executive producer rights to both albums for almost 30 years.
