In this clip, Chingy spoke about signing with Ludacris’ label, Disturbing the Peace, which Shawn Prez said surprised him because of Chingy’s connection to Nelly. Chingy explained that he was friends with the brother of St. Lunatics rapper Ali, who Chingy said he stayed in the studio and recorded music with. Chingy went on to speak about forming a group with Ali and Nelly’s manager hearing their music and representing them. Chingy added that he was opening for Nelly in 10,000-seat venues, and he went on to share a story about going to a party and Nelly telling Chingy that he would sign him but not the others in his group.

From there, Chingy explained that in the summer of 2002, he heard the “Right Thurr” beat, and he added that he had the hook and verse for years. Chingy also spoke about recording “Holiday Inn” the same year, revealing that his then-girlfriend is the woman on the hook. Moving along, Chingy spoke about Ludacris being on the “Anger Management” tour with Eminem, and he added that he went backstage at the St. Louis show. Chingy went on to speak about meeting Ludacris’ manager, Chaka Zulu, who he sent his demo tape. Chingy added that Chaka knew “Right Thurr” would be a hit and told him to finish it and send it back. Chingy revealed that he then got his deal with Capitol Records, and “Right Thurr” was #1 the following year. To hear more, including Chingy’s reaction to Chaka Zulu being shot, hit the above clip.
