It's been nearly one year since Jake Paul last participated in a boxing match. On December 21st Jake Paul knocked out former MMA champion Tyron Woodley with a knockout punch in the sixth round. Since then, he's lined up two opponents, Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr., and they both backed out of their commitment in the weeks leading up to their fight with Jake Paul. Jake Paul is scheduled to face off against MMA legend Anderson Silva on Saturday night in Glendale, Arizona. In the past seven days, there has been serious concern that Anderson would have to back out of the fight after he reportedly got knocked out by his own sparring partner on two separate occasions last week. The Arizona Boxing & MMA Commission has reluctantly agreed to allow Anderson to partake in the highly active showdown with Jake Paul after he was forced to undergo numerous medical examinations. Anderson passed the examinations with flying colors before stating that the reports about him getting knocked out were taken out of context.
"When I'm talking about the knockout, it's just to help the [teammates] who help me, to [lift] them up," Silva said to ESPN. "I was just joking. It's crazy, but it's fine."
Jake Paul and Anderson Silva completed their weigh-ins on Friday at the Desert Diamond Arena. Another intriguing fight of note tomorrow night could be the undercard battle between former NFL star Le'Veon Bell and ex-UFC fighter Uriah Hall.
