According to reports, China has over 7 million soldiers in its armed forces, whereas the United States only has 3 million. On the flip side, the United States ranks number two, across the globe, in armor holdings, while China ranks number three. Both countries rank amongst the top four military forces in the world, along with Russia and India. China just added some technology to its military that could vault them closer to contemporaries in the near future.
A Chinese defense contractor (Kestrel Defense Blood-Wing) took to social media and published a video of a new weapon called the "war dog." In a time of war, the robotic dog would be airlifted by a drone into battle. It has four legs, automatic weaponry attached to the top of its back, and the ability to scan for potential threats and targets. The machine gun attached to the war dog's back reportedly can fire 650 rounds per minute and can reach a distance of 400 meters.
The Chinese military contractor issued the following statement to describe their new "war dog" design.
“War dogs descending from the sky, air assault, Red Wing Forward heavy-duty drones deliver combat robot dogs, which can be directly inserted into the weak link behind the enemy to launch a surprise attack or can be placed on the roof of the enemy to occupy the commanding heights to suppress firepower. And ground troops [can] conduct a three-dimensional pincer attack on the enemy in the building."
