In this clip, Jason Lee started off speaking about moving to L.A. in 2006 after initially planning to leave years before, but his brother was killed at his going away party. Jason explained that he was depressed and drinking after his brother’s death, and he spoke about having fears of following his dreams. Jason then spoke about being grateful for having careers in education and helping kids who were victimized. He added that he learned a lot about the business of the judiciary system during his career, and Jason also spoke about taking his career and moving to Los Angeles. By 2009, Jason decided to jump into the entertainment industry after moonlighting as a consultant. Jason then explained that his friend Alex Avant saw the potential in him, but he didn’t want to manage Jason, who Alex said was “too messy.”
Moving along, Jason spoke about his mother having another child when he was 17, who Jason adopted so he wouldn’t have to go into the foster system as he did. Jason then explained that he didn’t understand many of his mother’s issues, and he added that he didn’t have a parent past the age of 7. Jason then spoke about parenting his brother, who he said was out of control because Jason said he was showing him love by indulging him materialistically. Vlad then asked about a story he heard about Jason’s brother throwing a Molotov cocktail on the freeway, and Jason explained that he saw a fire and instantly knew it was his brother. Jason then revealed that a neighbor saw his brother start the fire, which led to his brother stealing a car that he crashed, and he was later arrested.
Lastly, Jason addressed his mother’s death in 2012, and he explained that he was trying to give his mother peace in her last days. Jason spoke about his mother being regretful and telling him she did the best she could a week before she passed away. He then explained that his cousin, who worked at the hospital, called him and told him to come to the hospital because things didn’t look good. Jason added that his mother was in a coma by the time he arrived, and he explained that he had closure before his mom passed.
