Dwyane Wade's ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches-Wade has come forward claiming that she objected to her transdaughter Zaya Wade's gender and name change and that her husband chose to go through with it for money.
Funches-Wade alleges her ex-husband “is positioned to profit from the minor child’s name and gender change with various companies through contacts and marketing opportunities including but not limited to deals with Disney.”
She adds, “I have concerns that [Wade] may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies.”
Funches-Wade also alleges that the former couple had a conversation about Zaya in August 2020 where Wade expressed to her how lucrative of a move this would be and that "a lot of money had already been made" in relation to her name and gender change.
“[Wade] told me that he intended to make our child very famous due to the name and gender issue and also informed me that there would be endorsements/contracts associated therewith,”
D-Wade has yet to file a response to Funches-Wade's legal documents.
