Earlier this year, Big Sean and Megan Thee Stallion were taken to court over allegations they ripped off a song from a songwriting duo. Harrell James and Duawn Payne sued Megan and Big Sean and Universal Music and 1501 Certified Entertainment, claiming they penned the song “Krazy” in 2012. Both artists say they passed the CD out around Detroit and performed in different clubs along the way. Since then, the plaintiffs in the suit have settled with the two rap stars.
In court documents that surfaced, attorneys for Payne and James said, “We represent the plaintiffs in the above-referenced action and write on behalf of the parties to inform the Court that the parties have reached an agreement in principle to settle their dispute in its entirety. We ask that the Court stay this matter for 30 days so that the parties may finalize their terms of settlement.”
The song in question, “Go Crazy,” was featured on Megan Thee Stallion’s 2020 album ‘Good News,’ and Big Sean and Megan were hit with a cease and desist by James and Payne in March 2022.
