There has been a recent debate about Nas after 21 Savage stated in a Clubhouse chat that the "Illmatic" rapper is no longer relevant, adding that he just has a loyal fan base.
21 stated, "I don’t feel like he’s relevant. I just feel like he got a loyal fan base. He still makes good music." Following backlash from his statement, 21 Savage took to Twitter to clarify, writing, "I would never disrespect [N]as or any legend who paved the way for me. y’all be tryna take stuff and run with it[.]"
Many people have spoken out to address 21 Savage, including Nas' brother Jungle, Fivio Foreign, and Kodak Black. Nas also seemingly responded to the situation by posting a photo, and in the caption, he posted crying laughing face emoji and the word "LOVE."
Amid the debate, DJ Vlad stepped in to address the situation, and he pulled up Spotify's "Top 50" songs, which featured Drake and 21 Savage, Taylor Swift, Lil Uzi Vert, and SZA. Vlad pointed out that most people focus on first-week sales because when a new album drops, people usually listen. Vlad also showed that Nas didn't have one song from King's Disease on the list, which he said he thinks 21 Savage was trying to prove with his comments about Nas.
DJ Vlad went on to explain that 21 Savage could've had a better delivery with his comments, and he went on to shout out Nas and Hit-Boy, which you can hear in full above.
