At the age of 24, Ryan Garcia is already one of the best young fighters of this generation. The lightweight professional boxer currently boasts a 23-0 record, which is precisely where Sugar Ray Leonard stood upon winning his 23rd fight back in 1979. When the Hall of Famer was in his prime, he took on all comers during an era in professional boxing when the top fighters did not duck one another, and boxing matches were allowed to go 15 rounds (instead of 12) in order to determine a winner. Some of Leonard's most legendary fights in the welterweight and light-middleweight divisions were against the likes of Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, and Roberto Duran. A video clip of the 66-year-old legend trying to drop some knowledge on Ryan Garcia recently went viral on Instagram, and many of their fans have slammed the younger fighter for talking over the more experienced one about in-ring technique.

"Be slow to speak and quick to listen," wrote a fan in the comment section.

"He is not learning," added another commenter. "He is trying to show Sugar that he knows too."

"Let the teacher explain Ryan! You’ve still got work to do kid." another commentator wrote as they chimed in about the video.

Other fans argued that Ryan Garcia did nothing wrong and that he was simply engaging in a spirited conversation with someone who he has a great deal of respect for.

The 24-year-old recently reached a deal to partake in a super fight with Gervona Davis (25-0). The boxing match will take place sometime in 2023. Scroll up to watch Garcia exchange boxing tips with Sugar Ray Leonard.
