Actress Kirstie Alley -- known for her roles in Cheers, Look Who's Talking, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and It Takes Two -- lost her battle with cancer, her family announced on Monday.
"We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered," her family said. "She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother. We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care."
Kirstie Alley was probably most known for her role as Rebecca Howe on Cheers, which earned her an Emmy and Golden Globe in 1991. She also won another Emmy for her role in David's Mother.
While it is currently unknown what type of cancer Alley was battling, she is survived by her two children, William True and Lillie Price.
Kirstie Alley was 71 years old at the time of her passing.
