Legendary boxing referee Mills Lane passed away Tuesday morning in Nevada after spending the previous days in hospice care.
The former referee's son, Tommy, announced his father's death by stating, "He took a significant decline in his overall situation. It was a quick departure. He was comfortable, and he was surrounded by his family."
Best known for his appearances in Celebrity Deathmatch and his famous "Let's Get It On!" tagline, Mills Lane started his career in boxing as a boxer himself while in the Marines. Lane became a referee, despite going 10-1 as a pro, and officiated many notable fights throughout his Hall of Fame career.
The former ref's most notable fight was the second match between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, where Lane disqualified Tyson for biting Holyfield. After the 1997 match, Lane retired from boxing in 1998 and was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2013.
After retiring from boxing, Mills Lanes went on to become a featured character in Celebrity Deathmatch, as well as the host of his own court show, Judge Mills Lane. Lane also worked as a prosecutor, a district attorney, and a real-life judge.
Mills Lane was 85 years old at the time of his passing.
