Lil Wayne received the first-ever diamond plaque of his career for his 2008 hit single "Lollipop" ft. Static Major, marking 10 million units sold. The song was one of the first singles on Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, which also featured songs like "A Milli" and "Got Money" ft. T-Pain.

A video circulated on social media of Lil Wayne sitting next to the plaque and reacting to his accomplishment. In the video, Lil Wayne made sure to clarify that the plaque is for "10 million singles sold, not streams," and he went on to thank the fans who bought the album.

During the video, Lil Wayne also paid tribute to Static Major, who died in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, shortly before the song was released. Static Major was on the rise in his career after working with Ginuwine on "Pony," writing various songs with Aaliyah, and writing on Pretty Ricky's "Juicy." He unexpectedly passed away at the age of 33 due to complications following surgery. The music video for "Lollipop" was dedicated to his memory.
