Gunna was recently released from jail after taking an Alford plea deal in the YSL RICO case. The rapper had planned on giving back to those less fortunate immediately after being released. However, those plans have been shuttered.
The rapper had plans to distribute $100,000 worth of gift cards during a charity event in the Atlanta area. Gunna was teaming up with Goodr, but that was stopped due to security concerns. The rapper’s partnership with hunger relief company Goodr was announced hours after being released from jail, and the event was scheduled to take place on December 18 at the College Park Walmart.
The South Fulton Police Department issued a statement via Facebook: “As we had been working with Walmart to address security for the gift card giveaway that was to be hosted by Gunna and Goodr company on Sunday, we learned that Walmart has canceled the event. Any further information on why the event was canceled must be obtained directly from Walmart.”
Goodr CEO Jasmine Crowe-Houston spoke on the canceled event, saying, “Gunna and the entire Goodr team were looking forward to brightening the holidays of the 1,000 families that registered. We are aware of how much the promised gifts meant to those families, and we are collectively working to find an alternate solution.”
