Snoop Dogg recently sat down with the ’85 South Show’ and spoke candidly about being on Death Row Records and what he dealt with while transitioning to No Limit Records with Master P.
While speaking about No Limit, Snoop talked about how Master P empowered him to own assets like a home and cars and ensured it was under his name. “This was the first time s**t was in my name. Everything was in Suge Knight’s name,” said Snoop.
From there, show host Karlous Miller pointed out how rebuilding his career at No Limit while already being a star must have been a humbling experience. Snoop noted he wasn’t the Snoop Dogg we know today, saying, “My spirit wasn’t that.”
The rapper then revealed a stretch of events that made him feel like his spirit was broken, saying, “Look, Doggystyle, workin’ on Doggfather, win my murder case, Dre leaves, Tupac get killed, Suge going to jail, Death Row want to kill me. That’s all in the same year.” Watch above.
