In this clip, Van Lathan broke down why white people aren’t necessarily punished when it’s left up to American society as a whole. He recounted his conversation with Philando Castillo’s mother and how the traumatic events that led to his life being taken virtually went unpunished. According to Van, it seems as if racists are being rewarded in America for their blatant racism.
Later on, Van Lathan and Vlad discussed the use of the N-Word and the politics behind who can and cannot use the word. Van asked Vlad if he’s ever used it while singing along to rap lyrics to which Vlad vehemently denied. They ultimately agreed on the notion that one can say or use slurs within their specific group but none outside of their group.
