Previously, Drake, Migos, and other artists were named as potential witnesses in the XXXTentacion murder trial by one of the men charged in the fatal shooting—Dedrick Williams. Now, the lawyer for Williams has reportedly asked for big names like Drake to testify, claiming there was an alleged involvement.
A court document submitted by the lawyer for Williams said, “The testimony of the said Aubrey Drake Graham is material to the case, and it is necessary to take the deposition of the said Aubrey Drake Graham to prevent the failure of justice.” Before his passing, XXXTentacion and Drake had issues with one another that found X accusing Drake of stealing his flow.
Attorneys for Williams claim that Drake allegedly spoke about the murder in his song “On BS,” which is why they mention the rapper. Additionally, Williams’ team requested that DJ Akademiks testify in the trial, with the lawyer alleging that Akademiks constantly speaks about the case during his streaming sessions.
“Mr. Allen, who goes by the stage name ‘DJ Akademiks,’ posted his podcast on December 21, where he openly discusses the case, acknowledges being served, and states, ‘I am not showing up to court to talk to y’all n****s.’ It is clear that nothing short of a court order will ensure Mr. Allen’s participation in a deposition,” said the lawyer.
