Miami Gardens Police has singled out French Montana for the shooting that occurred at the rapper's video shoot Thursday, Jan. 5. According to Miami Gardens Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt, French Montana and his team are to blame for the violence as they allegedly violated the city's policy by not securing permits to film the music video.
"As a result of this disregard of the procedures, the unauthorized music video production led to an unfortunate situation," Noel-Pratt said. "If the necessary agencies were notified ahead of time and protocol followed, police officers would have been in place to safeguard the community and assist with deterring and responding, if needed, to any situation that may arise."
The police chief's statement comes after French Montana released a statement of his own, claiming he was celebrating the release of his new mixtape and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Last night, I was in Miami celebrating the release of my CB6 mixtape w/ friends at a local restaurant," Montana tweeted. "We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time."
According to reports, the shooting occurred outside of popular soul food restaurant The Licking Miami Gardens after an alleged argument. Ten people were injured in the shooting, including New Orleans rapper Rob49 and French Montana's bodyguard.
According to TMZ, everyone injured in the shooting is expected to recover. No arrests have been made since the shooting.
