Just when it appeared as though the madness of holiday shopping was about run its course in New York City, a trio of masked and hooded men entered a store called Facets Fine Handcrafted Jewelry before pulling off a heist that would make them all filthy rich on the opening week of the new year.
On Sunday evening, around 5 pm, two crew members began smashing and grabbing their way through a protective glass display before snatching up the valuables. While this was happening, a third group member stood watch over the store's entrance as the owner, Irina Sulay, and her customers looked on.
The perpetrators left the crime scene less than 60 seconds after their arrival with about $2 million worth of stolen jewels in their possession, and they are still at large. No one was hurt during the occurrence.
