Update 01/14/2023 12:37pm:
According to reports, a judge denied Live Nation’s attempt to get a lawsuit from the family of Drakeo The Ruler dismissed.
In December 2021, Drakeo The Ruler was stabbed at the ‘Once Upon a Time in L.A.’ music festival in Los Angeles. The death of Drakeo sent massive shockwaves through the hip-hop community, and the rapper's family ultimately sued Live Nation and others. The suit alleges that Live Nation and other promoters failed to protect the rising rapper, despite knowing the event was occurring in a part of the city “rife with gang activity.”
While speaking to Rolling Stone about the latest decision from the judge, the lawyer for Drakeo’s brother Devante Caldwell—Jovan Blackwell, said, “The ruling represents the court’s recognition of Live Nation’s and the other defendants’ role in the injustice suffered by Drakeo, his family, and friends. We are one step closer to providing justice and closure to this horrific experience.”
Court filings filed by Live Nation reportedly said they should be removed from any liability in the tragic situation according to state law. Live Nation claimed the incident at the festival was “unforeseeable,” as no “violent mob” of 50 to 100 people brandished knives and killed someone at the Banc of California Stadium prior to that. Stay tuned for more updates.

In this clip, Ralfy The Plug explains why his family filed a $60 million wrongful death lawsuit against Live Nation because they neglected to provide Drakeo The Ruler with proper security before he was stabbed and killed at a concert in Los Angeles. From there he shares his disappointment about the city of L.A. losing two of its biggest stars (Nipsey Hussle & Drakeo The Ruler) during their prime. He then credits his late brother for inspiring Soulja Boy's antics on social media, while also giving Nipsey Hussle credit for providing people with the blueprint for being business-minded and working hard. As the conversation continues, Ralfy The Plug explains why he prefers being an independent artist and making his own business decisions as opposed to being signed to a major record label.
