Fresh off the heels of his first studio album, 12 Play, R. Kelly introduced the world to his music protégé Aaliyah one year later. Her debut LP, Age Ain't Nothing But A Number went three times platinum after hitting the selves in 1994 during which time the 15-year-old recording artist married her 27-year-old mentor in secret. According to reports, R. Kelly had Aaliyah and her parents sign an NDA regarding the pair's marriage, which only lasted about seven months. Additionally, there are also rumors of a pregnancy (and miscarriage stemming) from the highly publicized relationship. Seven years later, Aaliyah tragically passed away from a plane crash near the Bahamas. In 2022, K. Relly was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexual abuse, sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Last week a claiming to be the secret child of R. Kelly and Aaliyah, hopped on social media and spilled the beans about her "true identity."
"I just wanted to let the world know," the young lady said. "am the biological child of Aaliyah Haughton and Robert Kelly and...I just want to tell my truth and also tell my mother's truth, because I feel like it's time and it needed..."
Today, R. Kelly is said to have three biological children, while Aaliayh did not have any offspring known to the public before she died at the age of 22.
