XXXTentacion's step-uncle, Leonard Kerr, took the stand in X's murder trial on Tuesday (February 7), where he detailed being in the car with X when robbers ambushed their vehicle.

Kerr explained that he was with his nephew inside of the motorsports dealerships in Deerfield Beach, Florida on June 18, 2018. He explained that he saw X's Louis Vuitton bag open with $50,000 exposed, and he told X to close the bag, which he did.

After getting in X's car to leave, Kerr spoke about an SUV blocking the entrance to the parking lot, and he then revealed that two armed men jumped out with guns. Kerr stated, "The taller one was like this [pointing gun], ‘You don’t come out the [f***ing] car!’ And he was with a gun. The shorter one was at Jahseh’s side. He was digging [his gun into X’s neck saying] ‘Give me the chain! Where’s the chain!'"

Kerr revealed that X was caught off guard by the ambush, and he asked the armed men, "What is this for?" Kerr then added that he fled the vehicle and ran toward the business to call police.

"I was like, if I run, I can get shot, but I can live. If I sit…I run, and I keep running to the side of the road where the bike shop is. When I go up there, I pick up my phone to try to call the cops."

Kerr then explained that he saw the taller man pointing a gun at X, and he added that he later heard two gunshots. He added that the men sped off in the SUV with X's bag and the $50,000. Kerr then found X lying motionless inside of the car.

Michael Boatwright, 28, Trayvon Newsome, 24, and Dedrick Williams, 26, are accused of killing XXXTentacion, with Boatwright and Newsome being named as the gunmen and Williams as the driver. A fourth suspect, 26-year-old Robert Allen, is expected to testify against the three men after pleading guilty to second-degree murder last year.
