Last September, Robert Sylvester Kelly (56) was sentenced to 30 years in prison after a New York jury found him guilty on nine counts, including racketeering and the sexual exploitation of children. United States District Judge Ann M. Donnelly handed down the ruling that delivered a severe blow to the prospect of the Grammy-award winner ever becoming a free man again.
On Thursday, the legendary R&B singer better known as R. Kelly was sentenced to an additional 20 years behind bars, 19 of which will run concurrently with the aforementioned punishment. The sentencing occurred at a federal court in R. Kelly's hometown of Chicago, where he was penalized for six out of the 13 charges he faced, including child pornography and abusing three minors. Judge Harry D. Leinenweber made the ruling. This development means that R. Kelly will remain behind bars for one extra year.
