Teyana Taylor is getting major praise after the trailer dropped for her upcoming movie "A Thousand and One," where she plays Inez, a woman who recently returns home after a stint in Rikers Island. While she was away, Inez's young son Terry was placed in foster care, and she works to get him out and start a new family unit with her boyfriend Lucky.
After the trailer for the movie, which is the debut feature film from writer and director A.V. Rockwell, dropped on Thursday (February 24), Teyana was met with tons of praise and predictions that she could be nominated for an Oscar.
"A Thousand and One" has already received the Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. dramatic competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Previous winners include Minari (2020), which won the film won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, and CODA (2021), which won Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur), and Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars.
The film premieres in theaters on March 31.
