In this clip, Vlad started off asking Eddie Griffin when he started taking comedy seriously, and he revealed that he was studying to be a biological engineer at Kansas State University on a full scholarship. After being kicked out of the Navy, Eddie went onstage to perform at a comedy club at the insistence of his cousin, which is where he got the bug to do comedy. From there, Eddie spoke about continuing to pursue his comedy career by moving to L.A., where he was homeless and working several jobs at once. Eddie then detailed auditioning to perform at the Comedy Store for Mitzi Shore, who gave him a place to live and a spot at the club. While speaking about performing at the club, Eddie spoke about forming a friendship with various comedians, including Andrew Dice Clay, who started managing him. When asked about his next big break, Eddie revealed it was “Def Comedy Jam,” which Eddie added was before he did his first HBO special. Moving along, Eddie spoke about giving Master P the script for “Foolish,” and he revealed that Master P handed him a check for $1 million for the script. Vlad and Eddie then discussed Master P being one of the pioneers of independent film, and Eddie went on to speak about his time on the set, which you can hear more about above.
