In this clip, Shawn Prez started off speaking to Stephanie Mills about her song “Home,” which she said she improved after making it more urban. Stephanie explained that she wanted to remind people of the wonderful music from “The Wiz,” and she stated that it was her idea to redo the song. From there, Stephanie spoke about the passing of Teddy Pendergrass and Michael Jackson, and she added that Prince’s death also hit her hard. When it comes to Michael, Stephanie admitted that she never knew that he was on drugs, and she added that it was hard to accept the tragedy of his and Whitney Houston’s death. Stephanie stated that Michael didn’t have the right people around him, and she went on to speak about her interactions with Prince. From there, Stephanie spoke about responding to Sam Smith for saying that he wasn’t a fan of Michael Jackson, and Stephanie admitted that she was sensitive about Michael.
