Previously, Melle Mel commented about Eminem’s status in rap, saying he wouldn’t be considered a top 5 emcee if he wasn’t white. Now, Kevin Gates has reacted to the comments of Melle Mel, seemingly defending Eminem in the process.
Gates was approached by TMZ and was asked about the comments made by Melle Mel, saying, “He in my top 5,” before saying, “He the truth. Who can make a song like ’Stan’?”
When the interviewer brought up Melle Mel saying Eminem benefits from white privilege in the hip-hop space, Gates said, “Listen, I don’t get in all of that. It’s only two types of people. It’s real people, and it’s fake people. Real people do real things, and fake people do fake things.” Take a look above.
