In this clip, Chris Herren discussed getting into a huge bar fight while at Fresno St. which prompted the local SWAT team to be deployed to arrest him. He talked about the pressure he felt playing at Fresno St. and maintaining his spot in a highly competitive program. Chris also commended Fresno St. for not taking a punitive approach to his drug addiction and actually tried getting him help.
Later, Chris Herren talked about being the subject of a Fox documentary which felt more like a reality show for him after he left rehab and returned to his team at Fresno St. He then recounted speaking with the legendary Mike Wallace for ’60 Minutes’ and what that conversation entailed. Chris also opened up about his decision to return to college after that season, citing his desire to win as the main reason.
Herren revealed he was nervous about entering the NBA Draft. After going 33rd to the Denver Nuggets, Chris recalled his rookie experience and how he only made $303K on his first deal. He also said that he cried when he was traded away from Denver after establishing a sense of camaraderie with his Nuggets teammates.
