In this clip, Chris Herren started off speaking about his history with opioids and Oxycontin while he was in the NBA, and Chris said that it “crushed” him. He explained that he was spending $25,000 a month on Oxycontin, which Chris said was to hide it from the people around him. Chris then spoke about how he was comforted by the large amount of money in his bank account, and he remembers taking out the last $50. From there, Chris addressed how addicts were shamed in the early 2000s, and he added that things have changed since then. Moving along, Chris detailed being traded to the Celtics, where he was playing with Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker, while Rick Pitino was coaching. Chris explained that he was deep in his addiction at the time Pitino put him in the starting line-up, which Chris says he wished he remembered.
