Surveillance footage has been released showing NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin holding a conversation with his accuser inside the Phoenix Marriott hotel during Super Bowl weekend. During the chat, Irvin is seen touching the woman's elbow twice before the two parted ways.
In response to the video's release, Irvin said "Here's the truth. We used to say when we played football ‘the eye in the sky don’t tell no lie', it's just the truth," adding, "[w]e talk and tell lies, but the eye in the sky don't tell no lie."
The video was obtained by Irvin's legal team after a weeks-long dispute with the hotel. Court documents show Irvin's accuser claims he asked her "whether she knew anything about having a 'big Black man inside of [her].'" Following the release of the footage, Irvin told reporters, "I don't speak like that. I've never spoken like that. I totally deny saying that."
"There's no doubt from watching this, this woman is not offended," said Irvin's attorney Levi McCathern. "This is not a sexual assault. This isn't sexual harassment. This isn't sexual misconduct."
