The music catalog of The Isley Brothers spans nearly six decades. Mega-hits like "Shout," "It's Your Thing," and "Between the Sheets" have transcended the lines of pop culture and R&B music, furthering the iconic legacy of the group's lead vocalist, Ronald Isley. Nicknamed "Mr. Biggs" by his fans, Ronald co-founded the legendary soul group with his brothers, O'Kelly, Ernie, Chris, Marvin, Vernon, and Rudolph, in the 1950s. Three brothers have passed (O'Kelly, Marvin & Vernon), and two left the group in the 80s (Chris & Rudolph), while Ronald and Ernie continue to record music under the famous family moniker.
Rudolph has not been an active member of The Isley Brothers for decades, but he once shared lead vocals with Ronald, and he was an essential part of establishing their imprint with Sony Music called T-Neck Records. According to reports, he has filed a lawsuit against Ronald, alleging that his younger brother obtained exclusive control of the group's name and trademarks while benefiting from the residuals without his inclusion or content. Rudolph has also indicated that proceeds of the group's earnings were supposed to have been split between him and Ronald evenly upon the passing of their brother O'Kelly. Therefore, Rudolph is seeking backpay from the moment Ronald received a trademark for the group and official co-ownership of the name.
