In this clip, Johnny Chang about being in youth authority and sticking to his “car,” or among his fellow gang members, and Johnny went on to speak about getting used to being in there. From there, Johnny spoke about how dysfunction in his family dynamic led to him joining a gang and how his mindset allowed him to justify the things he was doing. Johnny then shared how his life differed from a guy he grew up with, who wouldn’t touch drugs or join a gang, and Johnny explained that he thought he was stronger.

Cavario spoke to Johnny Chang about how his dysfunctional family dynamic led him to join a gang at just 12, and Johnny went on to speak about changing his life, including doing prison ministry. Johnny explained that if he knew the things he knows now, it would’ve stopped a lot of what he did in his past. He added that he’s spoken to people around the world, and he sees a lot of people who are lost and sad, and Johnny went on to speak about how he converted to Christianity. He then explained how his mother was introduced to Christianity, and Johnny went on to explain his discussion with a pastor that changed his mind.

Johnny Chang spoke about the gangster life and structure being like a religion to him, which led to a discussion about the power of belief. When asked about being a prison minister, Johnny explained that he teaches people about mindset and the heart, and he added that he’s not preaching to people. He added that the teaching is centered around the emptiness that people feel, and Johnny explained that it teaches resilience to overcome everyday things.
