Part 3: Big Gipp on Goodie Mob Coining "Dirty South", MPD Chief Once Led ATL's Red Dogs
Part 1: Big Gipp: I Grew Up Middle Class in Atlanta But Got Seduced by Drug Dealer Culture

--------

Big Gipp detailed how Goodie Mob formed, saying the crew was initially comprised of solo artists looking for deals. Initially, Khujo and T-Mo were originally Goodie Mob, then known as Goodie Mob Lumberjacks. Gipp noted he was in a group, and Cee Lo was a solo artist. Gipp said he went to see Khujo one time, and he was rapping against a young kid who happened to be Cee Lo. Gipp said Cee Lo’s rap and singing style made him want to bring the rapper to the Dungeon Family.

Gipp then noted that Organized Noize were the ones who brought Goodie Mob together during the time Outkast was recording their first album. Once Cee Lo and Gipp joined the crew, they changed the name to Goodie Mob and signed to LaFace based on their appearance on Outkast’s “Git Up, Git Out.” Gipp then spoke on how Cee Lo came about, saying he was a younger cat who hung with older people in the streets. Vlad and Gipp then discussed the Bay Area influences on Organized Noize’s production.
