Previously, Young Thug co-defendant Jayden Myrick was sentenced to life in prison in an unrelated case. Since then, the YSL affiliate has faced a judge in the RICO case and noted he wants to represent himself. However, Fulton County Chief Judge Ural Glanville ordered a mental evaluation for Myrick following comments made in court.
The 22-year-old is on trial with 13 others, including Young Thug, and reportedly told Glanville he was getting legal advice from Donald Trump.
Myrick said, “I’m not the regular inmate, I be with Joe Biden and Donald Trump, and they be talking to me,” before saying, “Donald Trump is going to get me out.” As the YSL affiliate continued his statement, it reportedly became difficult for the judge to hear him, leading the judge to ask if Myrick was on any medication. Glanville noted he had “serious concerns about his present competency” and asked Myrick questions to see if he could represent himself. A list of medications Myrick was prescribed was given to the judge, but it was noted that Myrick didn’t take any of them. Because of that, Glanville ordered a mental evaluation for the 22-year-old by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities to see if he is okay to stand trial.
Myrick is facing charges of conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, possession of a weapon by an incarcerated individual, attempted murder, and participation in criminal street gang activity.
