46-year-old Lydell Grant was declared innocent in 2021 after he was convicted of a fatal stabbing, serving seven years in prison. Now, Grant has been charged with murder for shooting a 33-year-old motorist named Edwin Arevalo.

The two reportedly got into a traffic collision, which caused Grant to get out of his car. From there, Grant shot Arevalo, and then ran from the scene. Police went on to arrest Grant after a warrant was issued. The bond for Grant was set at $1 million.

Grant was previously arrested for killing 28-year-old Aaron Scheerhoorn, who was stabbed outside a Houston bar. It was reported that several eyewitnesses testified against the man in his trial. However, a new DNA analysis found on the victim's fingernails showed that Grant was innocent, leading the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to free the man. Grant had served seven years of a life sentence before being released on bond in 2019 while waiting for a decision to be made in his appeal. Stay tuned for more updates.
