Previously, Tory Lanez filed an appeal over the Megan Thee Stallion shooting conviction. The rapper previously took the first step in overturning his conviction, pointing out issues like the prosecution’s use of evidence to misrepresent his character. Now, it has been revealed that Lanez’s retrial was postponed by the court for one more week and was supposed to enter deliberation on April 10.
According to reports, both sides of the case are now going to discuss the motion on April 17. Lanez’s team then asked for a continuance to add to their retrial motion. Los Angeles Times Court reporter James Queally noted that the motion for a new trial is a “formality filed post-conviction and are rarely if ever, granted.” It was noted that Lanez is currently still in custody. Stay tuned for more updates.
