In June of 2022, a New York City courthouse sentenced legendary R&B singer R. Kelly to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering. The Chicago native was later convicted of enticing minors for sex and producing child sexual imagery. While R. Kelly remains behind bars, transcripts of an old (alleged) text messaging exchange between his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend, Azriel Clary, and her mother, Alice Clary, recently surfaced. By all indications, it appears that the mother and the daughter were in cahoots to entice the three-time Grammy winner. Azriel Clary is 23 years old now, but this news has caused backlash as many fans are calling for charges to be brought forth against her mother.
Among many of Alice's standout suggestions from the text exchange with her 16-year-old daughter was the following.
“You need to let him know your age cuz he in public doing stuff cuz he think you of age so he don’t care but when it come out that your not and you didn’t tell him he gonna look stupid and will be really mad cuz you will make him look like an idiot,” her text read. “He may not mind you age but that to be his decision don’t assume.”
