Minnesota Twins shortstop Kyle Farmer took a 92 mph fastball to the face on Wednesday from Chicago White Sox ace Lucas Giolito.

The scary moment happened at the bottom of the fourth inning as Giolito's heater got away from him and sailed right into the mouth of Farmer. Lucky for him, the pitch didn't cause any serious damage like a broken jaw or worse. Instead, Farmer will require surgery "to realign his teeth and fix a major laceration of the lower jaw."

"Thank God we got news that was better than what we were expecting," said Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli.

Farmer walking away from the taking a pitch to the face must've given his team a boost in morale as they closed out Wednesday afternoon's contest with a 3-1 victory over the White Sox.
