Back in May of 2022, a pair of officers from the Lubbock Police Department arrived on the scene of a domestic dispute between a man named Larry Pearson (36) and an unidentified woman who claimed that he struck her in the face numerous times. Ultimately, the cops hauled Pearson off to jail for domestic violence, although he disputed the woman's allegations, arguing that the woman should have been apprehended for her role instead. According to reports, Pearson became so irritated by his arrest that he began kicking the doors of the cop car after being placed inside. So, the cops opened the door, and Pearson promptly greeted the men by ejecting loogies in their direction. Pearson repeated this action once they arrived at the Lubbock County Detention Center.

If Pearson hadn't spat at the officers, he likely would have been looking at about one year behind bars for the domestic violence charge and/or a fine of up to $4,000. Unfortunately for Pearson, the price he'll have to pay for this incident is 70 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of harassment of a public servant, despite the pleas of his defense attorney, Jim Shaw, who contested that the ruling was "out of control" for "a simple misdemeanor."

The sentence was just handed down on Wednesday.
