According to reports, a judge pushed a ruling for Tory Lanez’s motion for a new trial back to May 8, 2023. The motion is related to the Megan Thee Stallion shooting.

Judge David Herriford made the decision, seemingly delaying sentencing for the rapper this past Monday (April 17). Lanez was previously convicted of shooting the Texas rapper, and a jury found Lanez guilty of assault with a semi-automatic weapon, along with numerous other charges.

Lawyers for Lanez are planning on filing a supplemental motion on May 1. If the motion for a new trial from Lanez’s team is denied, the judge is expected to issue a sentence for the rapper within 30 days.

The District Attorney’s office has asked the judge to deny the request for a new trial from the defense. A prosecutor in the case, Alexander Bott, said Megan Thee Stallion “wants closure in this portion of her life” and is “anticipating sentencing happening.”
