The object of any athletic competition is to win the game or match, however, that desire to win should not compromise sportsmanship. That memo didn't reach an Illinois youth wrestler who was caught on video sucker punching his opponent after losing their match.
Two eighth graders, Cooper Corder of SPAR Academy, wearing an orange singlet, defeated Maine West High School’s Hafid Alicea (in the blue). Following the match as Corder went in for a post-match handshake, he socked Alicea square in the face sending Corder to the mat.
The Oak Park Police Department is reportedly investigating the incident.
