In 2019, it was reported that Kawhi Leonard’s sister Kimesha Williams was accused of killing an 84-year-old woman in a casino. Williams and a friend allegedly followed Afaf Assad into a bathroom at the Pechanga Resort Casino and beat the woman up, then took her purse that had $1,200 in it.
Since then, it was revealed that the basketball star’s sister was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing the older woman. 39-year-old Williams was convicted of elder abuse, robbery, and first-degree murder.
It was noted that 42-year-old Candace Townsell was given the same sentence for her involvement in the 2019 death of Assad.
Williams reportedly issued a statement following the sentence: "I am so sorry for your loss. I have been praying for you and your family every day. I am not responsible for the death of Mrs. Assad. Although the courts have found me guilty of the charges, we all know the truth, and that there is one judge, and that is God, and that he knows the truth.”

According to reports, the sister of Kawhi Leonard—Kimesha Williams, was accused of killing an 84-year-old woman in a casino last Saturday.
Williams and her friend allegedly followed Afaf Assad into the bathroom at the Pechanga Resort Casino where they beat the woman and stole her purse which reportedly contained $1200. As a result, Afaf Assad ended up dying on September 4, a day after Williams was arrested. Williams is currently being held without bail. Williams and her friend Candace Townsei will be arraigned on September 19.
