Draymond Green and LeBron James have had a rivalry that has played out while on the court during NBA games and playoff series. However, Green and James have a friendship outside of the game that finds both players showing love to one another, and at times, Green defends James from harsh criticism. Now, a report surfaced noting that Green attempted to go the extra mile to show support for James during a legendary moment this season.

According to Marc Spears of ESPN, Draymond reportedly requested to leave a portion of the Warriors’ road trip to watch LeBron James become the all-time leading scorer in NBA history on February 7.

The gesture was noble, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr denied the move, noting Golden State had a game against the Portland Trailblazers the following day. Currently, the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers are set to face each other in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals of the NBA playoffs on May 2. Stay tuned for more updates.
