It appears that Antonio Brown isn't off to the best start as a team owner in the Arena Football League after allegedly threatening the head coach of his squad, locking players out of hotel rooms, and failing to pay them.
The details of Brown's horrific start to his ownership tenure were provided by head coach Damon Ware and quarterback Sam Castronova. Ware described Brown gaining ownership over the team as a "hostile takeover" in March following the Super Bowl. He said Brown owns 95% of the team and said it's been a hellish experience from the start. "It became all about him, not the football team," Ware said. "We built a wonderful organization over three years -- he came in and killed it."
Ware said after players didn't receive their pay in April on schedule that they contemplated sitting out as a result. The following Sunday, "several captains decided to confront team officials on their bus ride back from North Carolina. [...] Once they got to their team hotel, Ware, the captains, and several other players discovered their room keys no longer worked -- and hotel staffers told them it was Brown's doing."
